I play the violin and started lessons when I was just 7 years old with my teacher Lorna McGovern (our leader!).

I continued to play throughout school playing in multiple orchestras and ceilidh bands and even getting the chance to go to Italy with the Perth Youth Orchestra and perform in some magnificent places like the Piazza della Signoria!

I have now been in PSO for just over a year now. When I had my daughter, I had a little break from the violin. I wanted to get back into playing more regularly again and thought what better way to do that than to join PSO! It has been challenging at times but I have loved pushing myself and playing with an orchestra again.

I have loved being a part of the orchestra, meeting new people and seeing some old faces. Our conductor, Sam McLellan, always keeps the rehearsals happy and upbeat while also encouraging us to perform to our very best. I thoroughly enjoyed playing the Florida Suite in the beautiful St John’s Kirk in our March 2026 concert. I also have enjoyed the social side of PSO. We normally have an annual quiz night before the first rehearsal back and our last one was a such fun and it was lovely to catch up with everyone before rehearsals started.
