I started playing bassoon at school, in 1964. It’s been a while!

I was new to Perthshire and teaching woodwind at Crieff High School in 1985 when an oboe pupil invited me to join PSO – I’ve been playing with the orchestra ever since and am now Chair of the committee.

One of the highlights for me was having my elder son, Douglas Waterston, play as soloist alongside John Wallace in the Vivaldi double trumpet concerto. I’ve also had the privilege of playing alongside so many great woodwind players over the years.
